The forest owner or legal holder must ensure that the forest in his ownership or legal possession is subject to a first forest valuation and submit the data to the State Forest Service, which stores them in the information system Forest State Register. At least every 20 years, the forest must be re-inventoried and the data must also be submitted to the State Forest Service.
The data from the submitted forest inventory files are recorded in the Forest State Register information system and each forest owner or legal holder has the right to receive forest valuation information from the Forest State Register for his/her property or possession.

- Submit logging applications and reports online and get up-to-date information about your forest,
- Planning EU and national support measures for forestry,
- For the development of forest management and nature conservation plans,
- For the development of fire prevention plans,
- compensation for forestry restrictions (e.g. for NATURA 2000 sites)
- for calculating real estate taxes and determining tax incentives,
- for determining the value of forests and woodlots.
Only certified persons are allowed to carry out forest valuations. Certificates for forest valuation work shall be issued to natural persons by conformity assessment bodies: SILVASERT SIA“ and Certification Bureau of the Latvian Union of Wood Quality Experts
